The attempted scam at Althea Racing. Airline and oil company. One step away from the big score!

Althea Fly

Do you think such things exist only in movies like Oceans (and all the rest of the saga) or in mystery or spy books?
Not a chance.
It's a few years old, but it was released only in these days in the form of an EXCLUSIVE interview wanted by Genesio Bevilacqua, the story of the attempted scam on the Althea Racing team, narrowly missed a few years ago when the Civita Castellana-based team had just won the World Superbike Championship.
Genesio Bevilacqua, prodigal with anecdotes, details, and data, recounted how faccendieri, princes, oilmen, and ... secret agents, were "pretty close" to swindling Bevilacqua's team and other unfortunates, something that later happened to the Internazionale football club as well.

The video is a bit long, but there are so many details that perhaps it is really worth evaluating to see what strange things can happen!

Assen, Race2: Rea wins the Loca game and takes the lead!

Rea Assen 2

Race 2 has only one emotion. The countdown featuring Rea in his hunt for Locatelli, positive hero of the day. That Johnny has to win, it is known, but everyone watches the Italian rookie's race greedily., hoping for someone to turn the tables even though they know it will not happen
Negative hero, on the other hand, Garret Gerloff, who pays dearly in the media for a normal race mistake by mistakenly pulling down the very colleague at the moment most beloved as Rea's only antagonist, that Razgatlioglu who sees a summit that until Saturday was his receding.
Crucified the American, who instead makes a normal mistake, however heavy, and should instead be evaluated for what he does right, every time.
Useless the rest, because Redding does not close any gap and all the others do nothing much. He saves himself, at least this time, Alvaro Bautista, who finishes a race and finishes it well., while Davies becomes aware that the podiums and victories he promised himself at the beginning of the championship are in danger of being a mirage.
With Rea the default ruler and Locatelli the revelation, we have to be content.

Race mini-report.
At the start of Race2 in the lead goes Locatelli after Gerloff touches Razgatlioglu and knocks him out.
He is followed by Rinaldi, then Lowes, Redding, Van Der Mark and Rea favanti to Sykes, Davies, Bautista and Mercado who rounds out the ten.

The race slides on the comeback of Rea who comes in behind Locatelli while behind him theAruba Ducati cancel out and allow Davies to arrive.
At minus 10 Locatelli is caught and later also passed by Redding. The Bergamasque, however, does not give up and still tries to get in on Redding.
As Sykes cancels out and Rinaldi plummets to eighth, race two at Assen ends in which Rea easily wins his third race in two days.
Rea, Redding, Locatelli, Davies, Bautista, Van Der Mark, Lowes, Rinaldi, Bassani and Haslam round out the ten.

Rea
Total and absolute dominator. He also seems to be taking his time.
Rated 10

Redding
He does second but doesn't close any gap. Today it is clear that he cannot win any championship. Not without external upsets.
Rated 9

Locatelli
He goes for broke and throws away a Superpole Race podium, but makes up for it with interest. What happens to him, he deserves it all.
Rated 10

Davies
He makes up for it in a big way-or almost. But the truth is that he cannot be happy. At the beginning of the season there was talk of wins and podiums. Where are they?
Rated 7.5

Bautista
He brings home a fifth place for which, we are sure, he would sign every time. In race 2 he stays calm and doesn't throw away. He grows in experience in the finale.
Rated 7.5

Van der Mark
Not very lucky home race. But it got even worse for him over theend. I'd drop the winning resolutions.

Lowes
The distance between Rea and Lowes. This bisgna quantify.

Rinaldi
Struggle, struggle, then plunge into the sea of problems.

Bassani
Slightly better than tenth ... however, the freshman can't make that step. Let's be clear, that's good enough as it is.

Haslam
Lazy and sleepy, he goes about his business. By now the feeling is that he is punching the clock.

Assen: still Rea ahead of Redding and Razgatlioglu. The rest is boredom!

Minicommentary of the race.
On super pole the result is this: Rea, Razgatlioglu, Redding, Rinaldi, Lowes, Folger, Locatelli, Haslam, Van Der Mark, Bautista.
NQ Sykes and Gerloff...

At the start the strong ones in the first corners are Razgatlioglu and Rinaldi.
Very bad Davies, who finds himself 20th until Bautista makes a hell of a flight. He also goes out immediately Lowes and then Rinaldi in the same corner as Bautista.
Astonishing, clearly also thanks to the many outs, is Locatelli who is fourth in a fight with Van der Mark...while scary Gerloff who started last finds himself in eighth position.
In the middle of the race the real duel is between Redding and Razgatlioglu, which favors Rea's stretching, by now ahead by almost a second.
Folger goes out and there is concern. Red flag and race over.
Some comeback is interrupted but, this much is certain, it all goes as it shouldRea, Redding, Razgatlioglu, Van Der Mark, Locatelli, Gerloff, Sykes, Haslam, Davies, Bassani.

Pages

Rea
Here he does what he wants and goes as he wants.
Nothing else to add.
Rated 10

Redding
Fearlessly fights and risks something but brings home a second place. He appears dissatisfied but more than complaining about not catching Rea due to red flag, he should be relieved that he didn't have to handle Razgatlioglu.
Rated 9

Razgatlioglu
Third place may be okay, but no one takes away from my mind that it could have been comfortably second.
Rated 9

Van Der Mark
The leaderboard says podium, the timesheet says Locatelli perhaps could have caught up and fought with him.
Rated 8

Locatelli
Beautiful race. Favored by a few retirements, but still faultless. Locatelli is one of the most beautiful things in this championship.
Rated 8.5

Gerloff
From last to...sixth. And who knows what else he might have been up to without a flag. But that's really okay too. The American is an ace.
Rated 9.5

Sykes
The Briton is having a hard time. Today is just not his day.
Rated 6

Haslam
At least he ends up on his feet, but it's easier if you don't really push.
Honda Horror.
Rated 6

Davies
Clearly, plans for victory, podium finishes, and major placings are to be abandoned.
Rated 5

Bassani
Today the Italian is missing an opportunity. The one to do something more.
Still, the race is good and he remains one of the best prospects on the grid.

Carlos Checa: 10-year title interview. Pebbles from the boot and advice for Ducati and WSBK!

In the end Carlos Checa is always a gentleman but that doesn't mean that he doesn't feel like saying things.

"Ducati didn't believe in this bike and left us alone, but we won anyway. Maybe I could have won that world championship even a year earlier in the factory team, if they had believed in it, but that's okay too."
It is an awareness that has matured over time, that of the only Spaniard to have won a Superbike world championship, who must have understood how things were turning after watching them cold and from a distance, also helped by the events that followed.

He is an analyst, "El toro." And from him come a couple of boulders on Ducati and World Superbike.
In the interview you will find the answers to the questions:

How come Superbike is in decline?
What are the culprits?
Who are Jonathan Rea 's heirs and how come the nord Irishman killed Superbike?
Who is the right factory rider for Ducati MotoGP?
What should be done to solve Ducati's problems?

But if you think Carlos is the rider who lends himself to controversy and gets manipulated just because it is easy to get flattered and carried away on his party day, you are wrong.
The recipe for Ducati, he has it: a good one has to try it but ... not him. In short, totally out of sync with the scattershot shooters that are so handy for today's click-catchers.
Perhaps that is why Carlos Checa is old school, in a good way, and it is also why perhaps, in a world that has forgotten the real things, he and his team were the last to win in a certain way.

Valentino Rossi and Aramco: doubts grow. Press and finance wake up, but not by us!

VR46 aramco

Those who want to sit through a giant "I told you so" can go read this piece from May 6 in which, with the VR46 partnership statements still fresh, some doubt was already coming to light concerning the fact that, first of all, there were no signatures or quotation marks in the press release, and then the first denials from the oil company had already arrived.
More than two months have passed since late April, and there have been two more denials. The first came in late June and the second, in Assen. The latter is really the heaviest, as it came from the mouth of the oil company's CEO.
Let's briefly do the summary history.

These three boulders clarify Aramco 's point of view and downplay the repeated assurances that would have come from the Saudi Prince. Arguably, despite the undoubted good faith, there is some distance between willingness to sponsor directly (through Aramco ) or indirectly, by having Aramco go through Tanal Entertainment, and actually being able to do so lightly, ending up in the hull with certain brands.

Multinational corporations, even those controlled by the royal families of countries in which we do not go too far, as internationally listed, must meet management criteria that do not have too much room for interpretation.
There are boards of directors, budgets, code of ethics, and all the corporate utility criteria that must be met by a company under international scrutiny.

No quotes or signatures were seen in the opening statements. Nor was there any detailed understanding of the connection between the entities involved, Tanal Entertainment and Aramco, where the former appears to be more of a mediator of interests and activities and the latter a multinational corporation playing a high-level game and subject to precise rules. We then saw statements that were yes nominal, but never joint, on the same sheet as specific sponsorship commitments, to wit. Not to mention the heavy denials of the oilman, who seems to be anything but controlled by the Princes.

Tanal and Aramco are yes "owned" by the Saudi royal family but, the concept of financial control and the Saudi royal family are very broad in meaning.
A multinational oil company is not a button store, and there are boards of directors, boards, shareholders to consider. The CEO is not a footman but a person appointed to protect, at the cost of his own survival, the privileges of the company whose administration he has been entrusted with. A royal family, in Saudi Arabia, is something complicated, from the point of view of the number of members and the balance between them. A rivalry, even a small one, can carry unimaginable weight.

All these unseen things, as well as the visible ones, should be taken into account by an information professional.

With the exception of a few foreign sites and only a couple of ours, however, it was like walking barefoot in the Sahara desert of amateurism, among the majestic dunes of condescension.
All the sites and newspapers behaved worse than a press office, as even a communications manager works on a minimum of quotation marks from his bosses to keep his job.

In short, when even it is all true, someone will eventually have to explain why there is so much resistance from a company that is supposed to do what the master wants but, in fact, is trying (and succeeding) not to, and so much acquiescence from those who are supposed to reason about these things.

In the end, in summary:
1) The deal was badly announced and taken for granted despite lacking basic assumptions.
2) Tanal and Aramco companies will also answer to the same ownership but seem to be in conflict instead.
3) The press can be told whatever it wants that it will always choose the solution that allows it to stage more stories and garner more clicks, regardless of the clues it gets or the common sense that would be needed in the analysis. Even at the cost of prostrating itself so that it becomes a new Youporn category.

Then there is another detail: all investment policies of Saudi companies linked to the target government (almost all of them are), are under scrutiny because of the historical and repeated violation of human rights on which the Arab country has been quite casual. Sports washing, i.e., the activity involving massive high-impact sponsorships to ingratiate themselves into the target social fabrics and public opinion (housing, amusement parks, sports facilities) has long been under scrutiny by all European countries and beyond, as well as by much of the international press (apart from our own).

Razgatlioglu2

Race 2 at Donington is boring from a technical standpoint but marks a turning point in the standings.
Jonathan Rea is no longer the fittest man in the circus. There is one confirmed star and his name is Razgatlioglu. Regardless of how it will end, right now the Turk is the iron man. And he doesn't even need to weigh it because it is the others who are stepping aside.
Also entering the elite is Gerloff and BMW , which, albeit momentarily and thanks to Sykes, sees some light.
Total darkness, however, for Ducati. So dark that the Bolognese should run in black livery. It's not so much the losing, which is scandalous, when the surrender effect that is in the air. There are too many races left to live it down so badly to the end. And while Rea is starting to suffer from the greed of not wanting to understand that he cannot always be first, others with the suffering have never stopped. Honda continues to gasp and the rest of the grid is virtually nonexistent. It's a world championship made up of six bikes, only a couple of which are capable of winning.

Mini Chronicle
At the start in the lead remains Rea but it is Razgatlioglu who starts as only he knows how to do, sgomitanto immediately with Sykes and Haslam, now former hosts. Redding is also incisive, in the 10 hoping he doesn't overdo it like in recent outings.
On the third lap Razgatlioglu is ready to thread Rea through. He does it comfortably and already takes a few meters.
After seven laps, it's still all the same up front while Haslam has collapsed, now a top ten risk.
On lap 12, hanging Rea goes out and restarts 20th.
With Razgatlioglu on the run and Gerloff firmly second, a duel for third place begins between Sykes and Redding that ends after two corners. The Ducati man catches up but makes a mistake and has to give up.

Razgatlioglu, Gerloff, Sykes, Redding, Van der Mark, Lowes, Davies, Rinaldi, Haslam Bautista.
It ends like this.

Report cards

Razgatlioglu
He is the one who has the most, strong with the renewal and the confidence everyone has in him. That in himself, however, never lacked. A champion on and off the track. At the moment, no one is like him.
Rated 10

Gerloff
He has patience and reaps the rewards. If someone would explain to him well that there is a future as a star for him, maybe he would waste less.
Or maybe not-but that's okay.
Rated 9.5

Sykes
He deserves the podium and more. He is the one who puts a patch on BMW 's shortcomings that seem to lie more in management than in the technical means. Sykes is always positive and reaps deserved rewards.
Rated 9.5

Redding
Positive race but not as a title contender. It is clear, however, that it is really Ducati that is lost here.
Rated 8

Van der Mark
He is one of those guys who can win at Donington. Yet he is not even a shadow of his teammate.
Rated 6

Lowes
You have to knock out Rea, greedy, to see Lowes first Kawasaki to the finish line.
Rated 6.5

Davies
I think it's clear by now that he doesn't have the package to win, partly because Ducati is lacking here in general.
Rated 6.5

Rinaldi
Undergoes and disappears--on the fringes of the top ten. The lights of Misano are now out.
Rated 5.5

Haslam
Strong at the start then wanes. Honda wanes and he also wanes who physically doesn't seem to be at his best.
Rating 5.5

Bautista
As above. Technical and physical suffering. Maybe Honda is really asking too much of his people.

Superbike, Donington: Razgatlioglu rides like he stole it. Rea beaten, Ducati buried!

Razgatlioglu

Pista leopardata, gara incidentata.

A seguire Sykes, Haslam, Lowes, Gerloff, Mahias, Bassanini e Locatelli a chiudere i dieci.

Riprende comnunque abbondantemente in top ten.
Finisce così: Razgatlioglu, Rea, Lowes, Sykes, Van Der Mark, Haslam, Gerloff,Bautista, Mahias, Bassani a chiudere i 10

Razgatlioglu
He drives like he stole it and makes it clear that in Yamaha they have to do what he says. And thank him.
He will close the race on lap 1.5. You may as well go to the beach.
Rated 10

Rea
He runs the best race he can for someone who is defeated and cannot defend himself.
In the end, he knows that on days like this, the smartest solution is to capitalize.
Rated 9

Lowes
By the law we know, he ends up behind his team leader. Nothing to say. Those are the values.
Rated 8.5

Sykes
Poor Tom finds himself squeezing blood from the turnips.
And he almost succeeds.
Rated 8.5

Van Der Mark
For Van Der Mark, same again, with the addition of a couple of mistakes without which he could perhaps have picked up a little more.
Rated 7.5

Haslam
This is really his home. He teaches us young and old.
Yet his race is a child of bad qualifying.
Rated 6.5

Gerloff
Voto 7,5

Bautista
Good thing he was the one throwing the world championships. His Honda is unmanageable, wheelies even in the pit box and dangling like a drunk.
The real race of the Honda men, is getting to the end.
Rated 6

Mahias
The Frenchman is growing steadily and is getting closer to the top. Again today, a small step.
Rated 7

Bassani
Un’altra ottima gara di Bassani, miglior Ducati all’arrivo.
Basterebbe già questo, eppure non è tutto.
Voto 8

Sofuoglu e Razgatlioglu: altrimenti ci arrabbiamo!

This introduction to point out a couple of details.
1) Sofuoglu 's riders talk little and he talks little himself.
2) Sofuoglu has clear ideas and does not waste time in tiresome negotiations.

For Razgatlioglu, following Kawasaki's snub of the 8h of Suzuka, there was packing in the direction of Yamaha.
It was already clear to the Turk and his manager that the Provec team would never allow the youngster to express himself so as not to damage the balance with Rea. Decision made in 2 days, zero journalistic wittering and deal done.
Off to the fly to the house of tuning forks where things don't work out, however.

The bike doesn't work, the team doesn't work, and the plans don't coincide with what the good Kenan has in mind: to win the Superbike world championship and go to MotoGP through the front door.

Paul Denning's Superbike team is not up to the task, the bike is not good enough to win, and even in MotoGP Petronas is not the right place for Toprak Razgatlioglu. It is really Yamaha that is undecided. It is not good.

1) Vinales va in Aprilia come molti auspicano

3) Vinales in KTM

O comunque preso finalmente in considerazione.

Assen: doppietta Yamaha Quartararo-Vinales, poi Mir. Male le Ducati, Marquez in rimonta!

Fabio Quartararo Assen

Today's positive asterisk goes to Gerloff, who without ever having seen bike, track, tires, beats Marini, to whom the negative asterisk goes. Is it really thinkable to give him the official bike and deny it to Bastianini who finishes ahead of him regularly?
Ok the money but a limit there must be. Worse than him, only his half-brother, now a shadow of himself. That on Rossi is therapeutic overkill. Do you really want to witness his weekly crispy-breading in the gravel?

Returning to today's race, it is clear that the game is closed. There are many riders busy finding a saddle and fighting personal battles, but only one is thinking about winning the war.

Mini chronicle of the race

Meanwhile, as emblematic as it is exciting is the duel between Rossi and Gerlof for second to last place. Rossi 's experience with 10 wins and official bike against Gerloff who has never raced at Assen and quads a 2-year-old bike he doesn't know with tires he doesn't know!

With an eventful race despite a runaway Quartararo also favored by the brawl behind him, Zarco is the best Ducati on the track while Marquez also does his part, trying to pass Bagnaia. He will not succeed.

Zarco ancora miglior Ducati e Oliveira consistente.
Delude Bagnaia mentre Marquez da ventesimo finisce settimo. Benino l’Aprilia. Rossi pensa allo sceicco e va a testare le sabbie, peccato.

Quartararo
Today's winner is also the one who takes home the world championship. It's almost certain barring upsets and hara kiri.
Rated 10

Vinales
Voto 9,5

Mir
If he is convinced that he will bring home the world championship like this, good for him.
But he needs to do something better than getting behind Quartararo every time.
Rated 8.5

Zarco
On a track not favorable to Ducati, the Frenchman spins hard, loses time, makes it up and ends up playing for the podium. Do people really not want him in red? Why?
Rated 8.5

Oliveira
Voto 8

Bagnaia
It is not a Ducati track but someone does better than him. The pre-race statements are aggressive ones, so it is obvious to expect something more. Despite having the track etched into his skin, the Piedmontese rider does not affect, makes mistakes, loses time, and does not play anything important.
Rating 5.5

Marquez
He makes a comeback race after starting 20th. Paradoxically, when he should be exhausted, he shows his best self.
Rated 7

Aleix Espargaro
Always good, the Spaniard. He understood that the key is not to waste.
Viewed positively, in short, he always capitalizes.
Rated 7.5

Nakagami
Great throughout the race, he drops hard at the end.
The performance, however, is positive.
Rated 6.5

Pol Espargaro
He should be the first guide, the one who is doing well, the one called to pull Honda up. It's not going according to expectations. Nemmano is having a race to remember this time.
