The news that money would be found by the fateful deadline of May 23, has arrived, and Pierer Mobility itself says so. It's not a loan or even a gift, though. Here's what's going on, for better or worse!
After the reassurances of someone - saying "it's okay, guys, relax!" - today comes the bombshell:
PIERER Mobility AG: financing package for KTM restructuring secured!
But beware...don't rush to pop the bubbly!
The restructuring plans of KTM AG, KTM Components GmbH and KTM Forschungs & Entwicklungs GmbH will be able to yes, be realized... but only because the money for the May 23 deadline has been found.
On February 25, 2025, the creditors approved the plan with a 30 percent share, to be paid by-guess what? - May 23 itself.
Total to be raised? About 600 million euros..
And Pierer Mobility has announced that - provided everything is signed off as planned - the funding there is.
So is KTM safe?
No. È saved by the deadline of May 23.. Period.
Want to know the rest? Watch this video all the way through or read the piece.
In this 24th video on KTM, The first question I ask is why if KTM is safe and the situation is simple, why are those who went in front of the closed factory saying everything was fine and those others who used to work for a KTM site writing the very long articles to explain things?
What happened is this: Pierer Mobility found the money to plug the hole momentarily, or so it seems.
it says so here https://www.pierermobility.com/en/newsroom/eqsfeed/2990330?type=adhoc
As announced, on February 25, 2025, the creditors of KTM AG, KTM Components GmbH and KTM Forschungs & Entwicklungs GmbH approved a 30 percent share of the restructuring plan, payable by May 23, 2025. The total amount needed to finance the share under the three restructuring plans is about 600 million euros.
But beware-it is not a relaunch. It is a temporary parachute.
From May 24 onward, KTM , let's remember, has its production stopped - goes back to losing money. Or anyway, it doesn't collect any.
This 600 million, reportedly coming from Bajaj, completely changes the nature of the company.
In other words? KTM will no longer be the Austrian company we knew all champagne and waste.
It is about to become an Indian company.
And when I hear that "the Austrian government's concerns are fading" ... boh, I don't understand.
An Indian company invests 800 million in a collapsing company and ... leaves everything as it was?
Please.
It is much more likely that Bajaj will turn the investment into capital, increasing its control over KTM and scaling up Pierer's shares.
Because if it were a loan instead, KTM would find itself with another huge debt to repay. It would not make sense .
Among other things, there is also the matter of another loan, Zochling's 80 million loan from Remus, to be settled. Since the loan has expired , Zochling would like shares, as we said in the video below and in the article here.
So, beware: this injection stops the clock, but it does not restart the company.
E there is no business plan on the table. They will have to implement it and it will take more money. Who's going to put it in?
So what happens now? What happens is that as of this moment the Indians are in charge of Bajaj.
And they may change everything.
-
Manufacturing all in India to save waste and control everything
-
Many fewer models, especially large ones
-
Probable end of the brands Husqvarna and Gas Gas, or at least their sharp reduction
-
In Europe will remain: the design, the museum that it is forbidden to call a museum, a few representative offices ... and maybe the racing teams. So no more 7000 dependents as the Austrian government hopes, unless that was promised and I have not read that anywhere.
Going back to the racing team, beware: the teams, if they stay, will be managed much more rigidly.
