A cross between WDW and the Ducati Riding Experience is staged at Mugello , and Bagnaia does Bautista by winning two comfortable races that look like outings. The difference is that there are no Yamaha or Kawasaki behind but only other Ducati. Ed boring, but not because of the color of who wins!
"Bello il Mugello pieno" (which is not true and you can look at the photos posted on the Misterhelmet channel) is the phrase that all the riders, at least the Italian ones, are forced to say because they must have been told that otherwise Mugello is skipping, as if Mugello on the calendar can be saved by saying things that are not true.
And the response to the riders' contract phrase is something resembling "yes that beautiful crowd of the last few years" ... in a lie belied by the empty grandstands (except the Ducati one) and deserted lawns. Uriminzokkiri-style shots, the nord Korean Propaganda office, do not resolve the situation except for those who have personal gain in believing in it. But I would end it here because if they want to keep an agonizing Mugello on the calendar it is their problem alone.
135,000 spectators are declared for theend but until yesterday there was an echo in the valley and we are not kidding ourselves.
Then it is clear that under the podium fills up if you open everything and if you push people there, instead of blocking them as in past years that you had to stop them. No point in pushing it.
What about the race?
The race doesn't exist. Bagnaia leaves, unbeatable today, and the race of holds up with the duel for the third step of the podium. Injured Martini has to give up but first regulates the two Marquez , who among other things self-eliminate.
Marc has to force everything on the Honda, Alex wants to fight with Marini on a bike he may not yet manage.
But in the standings, just look at the top ten, it speaks volumes: Bagnaia, Martin, Zarco, Marini, Binder, Espargaro, Miller, Bezzecchi, Bastianini, Morbidelli.
It means that Bagnaia is the strongest Ducatista but that this is not Superbike. Here Ducati is unrivaled as a bike and only those who ride one can win, of course if the factory allows them to do so.
The fault does not lie with Ducati but with those who are unable to counter it however the show is lacking and it is lacking even among non-Ducatists because between aerodynamics and regulations the riders do not know how to behave and bring home an overtake without getting a penalty.
Analyzing the race doesn't help. Ducati wins and the others all lose. Six ducati in the 10 (it would have been 7 without Alex Marquez's crash) has only one meaning. Aprilia and KTM pick up the crumbs, Honda and Yamaha not even that.
Look at the end of Quartararo, out of the 10 and 20 seconds behind, and tell me if this placing reflects the value of the rider. One who by now is so fed up that he even ends up behind Morbidelli, who tries hard but is useless.
If this is being negative and pessimistic, I am pessimistic. You, however, look at the final standings with times and gaps and prove me wrong. Then watch the race again and tell me if MotoGP is a healthy championship. Only a Ducati fan can be happy, and rightly so, but the show is something else.
